IU employs a wide range of people charged with data protection, including a chief privacy officer, a chief data officer, two special officers for health data, security analysts, and more than a dozen data stewards. We also train thousands of employees annually on privacy-related issues.
With emerging technologies and a changing legal landscape, the world of data privacy requires constant engagement. In the coming year, we are streamlining hundreds of web-based privacy notices. We are also enhancing our communication with you through use of the Privacy.iu portal.
In sum, our goal is to:
- Protect your data, consistent with industry best practice and governmental requirements
- Communicate as clearly as possible what we are doing with your data, and your related rights
- Make ethical decisions, in your best interest, with respect to the use of your data
- Define and sustain a culture that fosters innovation while respecting your personal autonomy
